Vietnam recorded 1,105 local Covid-19 cases Monday noon, including 879 in HCMC, pushing the city’s number of the day so far to 1,423, an all-time high for the metropolis.
82 other cases were recorded in Dong Nai, 49 in Tien Giang, 38 in Dong Thap, 26 in Hanoi, nine in Phu Yen, seven each in Bac Giang and Hung Yen, three in Tay Ninh, two in Bac Lieu and one each in Binh Phuoc, Soc Trang and Vinh Phuc.
760 cases in HCMC have been contained within quarantine zones and locked down areas, and 89 are being contact traced.
34 cases in its neighbor Dong Nai are close contact cases, 31 linked to the Binh Dien Market in HCMC, nine linked to the Hoa An Fish Market in Dong Nai, and eight are being contact traced.
41 cases in the southern Tien Giang Province are close contact cases, two linked to the HCMC’s Binh Dien Market, one returned from Dong Thap and five are being contact traced.
All the cases in the southern Dong Thap and Tay Ninh Provines are being contact traced.
Of the cases in Hanoi, 14 are close contact cases, 11 returned from HCMC and one returned from Da Nang.
All the cases in Phu Yen, Hung Yen and Bac Giang have been contained within quarantine zones and locked down areas.
One case in the southern Bac Lieu returned from Binh Duong and one linked to the HCMC’s Binh Dien Market.
The case in the southern Binh Phuoc, a 29-year-old woman, is linked to the Thu Duc Market in HCMC.
The case in the southern Soc Trang, a 48-year-old woman, returned from Dong Nai.
The case in the northern Vinh Phuc, a 28-year-old man, returned from HCMC.
Since April 27 when the fourth coronavirus wave began in Vietnam, 28,035 local infections have been recorded in 58 of the nation’s 63 cities and provinces.
Monday alone has seen 1,764 new infections.
